FRIENDSVILLE DOMESTIC ASSAULT
State Police from McHenry were called shortly after 6pm yesterday for a domestic assault on First Avenue in Friendsville. 36 year old Matthew Umble was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner and held on 3 thousand dollars bond.
WV COUPLE ARRESTED IN GRANTSVILLE
A West Virginia couple was arrested for marijuana possession Saturday afternoon near Grantsville. Maryland State Police say they pulled a vehicle over for a traffic violation on I-68, and a probable cause search revealed a quantity of the drug. Arrested were 32 year old Warren Brown and 26 year old Jada Brown. The woman was also found to be wanted by Frederick County authorities for prostitution.
TRUCKER FOUND DEAD ON TURNPIKE
A truck driver was found dead in the sleeping compartment of his rig just before 11 am Saturday on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Troopers from the Somerset Turnpike and the County Barracks say 49 year old Robert Slaven Jr of Springfield, Ohio was found in his truck about a mile west of the Somerset Interchange. An autopsy reveald the cause of death as natural.
On Sunday December 8, 2013, at 3:59 am, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to a residence at the 100 block of Memorial Avenue for a reported assault. Investigation into this matter revealed that the victim observed her boyfriend Richard Welsh destroying household property. The victim attempted to stop Welsh when she was allegedly bitten on her shoulder by him. Welsh left the area and was later located on Virginia Avenue and placed under arrest. It was also revealed that Welsh had a No Trespassing order on the premises where the incident took place. Welsh was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed, served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing. He was held on a $3,000.00 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center. The victim did not require medical attention.
On Sunday December 8, 2013, at 9:41 pm, Cumberland City Police Officers responded to a business on Park Street for a reported Theft. Store personnel advised that Daniel Miller, age 31 of Cumberland, was seen taking items and walking out without paying for them. Miller was placed in custody and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed and served. He was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioners for a bond hearing. He was held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.
