Two Hunters Die In Pennsylvania Monday

 

Two hunters died on the first day of hunting season in Somerset County on Monday. IN the first incident, 71-year old Windber resident Allen Webb was pronounced dead at the scene from health-related issues in Ogle Township. In the second 66-year old Robert Georg of Port St. Lucie, Florida died from an apparent heart-related incident. He had traveled to Somerset County to hunt. The incidents occurred just 20 minutes apart.

 

 

Suspect Arrested in Pharmacy Break In

 

A 22-year old man was quickly apprehended in the Friday evening break in at Deep Creek Pharmacy on Garrett Highway in McHenry. Michael George Reed is facing burglary, theft and CDS paraphernalia counts in connection with the incident. Following a call, the Maryland State Police saw a man on the North side of Garrett Highway, but he fled into the woods. A K-9 search and interviews with several witnesses, Reed was taken into custody. He was taken to Garrett Memorial Hospital for medical treatment; while at the hospital, he damaged some medical equipment there. He is being held on $10,000 bond.

 

 

Man Charged in Domestic Assault

 

A Cumberland man was charged in connection with a domestic incident on Monday. Twenty-year old Delanta Lamar Lewis was reportedly outside of a residence in the 300-block of Race Street. The victim found two males outside. Her dog came out, and Lewis began to strike the dog, and also struck her in the face and fled in a vehicle. She was treated for facial injuries at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Following his arrest, Lewis was taken to District Court for an initial appearance, and released on personal recognizance.

 

 

Man Arrested, Released on Indecent Exposure Complaint

 

Fifty-three year old Cumberland resident Bruce Richardson was released, following a hearing in Allegany County District Court, on an indecent exposure complaint. A female victim said she had seen a man urinating on a wall on Dexter Place. When she yelled at him, he reportedly exposed himself further to her. Richardson was taken into custody, following a description, which was given by the woman. He was initially taken to the Cumberland Police Department for processing, then to District Court.

 

 

Legislators to Meet With the Public

 

The Western Maryland Delegation to the General Assembly has set the time and date for its annual meeting with constituents. The meeting is usually held in December for the purpose of gaining input, as the legislators head into the upcoming General Assembly session. This year’s meeting will be held on December 10th at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Allegany College of Maryland. The delegation will also meet with the Allegany County Commissioners on December 6th at 3 p.m., and with the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce on December 14th.   One other meeting is scheduled with Attorney General Doug Gansler on North Branch Pollution issues. That will take place on December 11th at 9 a.m.

 

 

TGCC Schedules December Meeting

 

The Greater Cumberland Committee will hold its December meeting on Friday, December 7th at the Cumberland Country Club. The meeting gets underway at 4:00 p.m., and will feature Anirban Basu, the CEO of Sage Policy Group, as guest speaker. Sage is an economic and policy consulting firm in Baltimore, and Basu is one of the mid-Atlantic region’s most recognizable economists. He is a graduate of both Georgetown University and Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, as well as earning his Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park.
