Preston County Man Charged With Murder
Preston County resident Justin Michael Fontaine is being charged with first-degree murder following an incident over this past weekend. He is accused of shooting and killing 33-year old Jerame Sines of Friendsville Saturday night. The incident happened at Fontaine's residence in Hazleton. He is currently being held without bail at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
Office of Emergency Services Monitoring Storm
The Allegany Office of Emergency Services is monitoring a potential nor'easter, that will track up the east coast. The impact of the storm should hit later tomorrow or early Thursday. There is the possibility of rain, possibly snow, and winds. It's unclear at this point, which track the storm will take. A meteorologist with the National Weather Service says the storm could "pack a pretty good punch," although nothing of the magnitude of Hurricane Sandy.
Crash Causes Outage
Power was out for a time yesterday, as Potomac Edison crews repaired a utility pole which was struck by a tractor trailer, turning from Henderson Avenue onto Front Street. The accident occurred around 9:54 a.m., and happened as the truck snapped the pole in half. Traffic was diverted for a time. Baltimore Avenue was blocked at Decatur Street; Baltimore Avenue was blocked at Henderson Avenue; and, Glenn Street was blocked at Henderson Avenue.
Police Seek Suspect in Auto Breaking and Entering
The Maryland State Police are seeking a suspect, who was seen breaking into vehicles in the lower LaVale area early Sunday morning. A Maryland State Police trooper saw the suspect inside of a vehicle parked at 309 National Highway. The person fled on foot toward Orchard Field on Lane Avenue, and was last seen in the area of the FedEx building. It is believed the suspect is from the National Highway area, or is very familiar with the area. He is described as a white male, possibly in his early 20's. He is about 6 feet tall, 150 pounds with a thin build. He was wearing a unique brown and green Oriole's baseball hat, a gray hoodie sweatshirt, dark colored jeans and white sneakers.
Man Held on $5,000 Bond Following Domestic Incident
Twenty-nine year old Kevin Christopher Mc Donald was released on $5,000 unsecured bond, following a domestic incident Sunday afternoon at a residence at Fourth and Race Streets. McDonald is accused of arguing with the female victim throughout the day. He had allegedly been drinking alcohol, and at one point, the argument turned physical, as McDonald chased her, pushed her to the ground and began to repeatedly kick her. He was charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
State Highway Administration Launches Facebook Site
The Maryland State Highway Administration recently announced its Facebook page, offering SHA news updates, a Customer Care Management System, and emergency updates, among other features. The page also offers customers an opportunity to interact with, and learn more about the State Highway Administration.
Maryland Helping With Storm Recovery Efforts
The state of Maryland is helping other states with storm recovery efforts in both New Jersey and New York. About two dozen state troopers are at Fort Dix, New Jersey, having left this past weekend. About 50 health care workers from the Maryland Disaster Medical Assistance Team are in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The state also sent ten advanced life support ambulances were sent to New Jersey last week.
