Storybook Holiday Frostburg
The ninth annual Frostburg Storybook Holiday on Saturday, December 1, from 8AM-9:45PM. This is a daylong event of seasonal family activities. The sidewalks of Frostburg will feature carolers and wandering elves, and Frostburg’s City Place, on Water Street, will host various activities throughout the day, including free holiday trolley rides from 1-4PM.
Breakfast With the Elves at the Hotel Gunter - $6 per person from 8AM - 9:30AM. Tickets are available at the Hotel Gunter.
The annual Elf Olympics will begin at 9:30AM, followed by the Storybook Holiday parade on Main Street. After the parade, children’s illustrator S.D. Schindler will present his holiday book, “The Snow Globe Family,” at the Frostburg Community Library, followed by a craft activity.
From 11:30AM-4PM, children may visit the Elves’ Secret Workshop to choose a craft to make and wrap as a “secret” gift. They may also visit the Letter to Santa station, where they can write and mail their letter to the North Pole. Children will also have the opportunity to have their picture taken with an elf.
Holiday craft vendors and a miniature railroad will also be at City Place from 11:30AM-4PM.
Take the time to celebrate the season through literature during the holiday storybook readings from 1-1:30PM in the Fellowship Hall of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Also, from 1:30-3PM the Soroptomist Holiday Auction will take place at the Community Center.
Once again, the Hotel Gunter will house the Holiday Cookie Contest starting at 1:30PM, and free cookie decorating will begin there at 1:30PM .
Following the Festival of Trees in City Place at 6:30PM, Potter’s Place will carol in Saint Michael’s Courtyard at 7:30PM.
The Palace Theatre will host an 8PM showing of the holiday classic, “Miracle on 34th Street.” Tickets are $5 and are on sale at Main Street Books and the Children’s Literature Centre in room 206 of Frampton Hall.

A CRAFT PARADE WILL BE HELD ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1ST, 10-5 AT FRANKFORT HIGH SCHOOL, SPONSORED BY THE FRANKFORT BAND BOOSTERS. A CHINESE AUCTION, BAKE SALE, SOUP SALE AND CRAFT TABLES WILL BE FEATURED. THERE WILL BE LOCAL ENTERTAINMENT AS WELL. FOR MORE INFORMATION, CALL 304-703-6316.
Night Before Christmas Family Fun
December 1, 10AM-12PM The Gordon-Roberts House hosts Night Before Christmas Family Fun. Different craft each week, reading of "The Night Before Christmas" and refreshments. These events are free & open to the public, however, advance reservations are required. (Program will be held December 8 & 15.) Gordon-Roberts House is located at 218 Washington Street in Cumberland.
